She certainly is the grand dame of Japanese fashion. Or rather with Japanese sensibilities that went beyond Asia and found recognition in Western Cultures.
I love it when old ladies keep their place in the world. When they can produce things everyone likes. Relevant. The richness of their expertise embraced.
This collection: structure with flow. Minimalism with subdued whimsy. Expert tailoring that flows around the body, never constrained. Breath of school girl uniform in some of the jackets and collars. But never Lolita-like. More nun than Lolita.
Hems around the knees, slightly below. Not everything in the collection is wonderful but these dresses and suit skirts are wonderful.
This belongs to the best dresses of the season. So rare a long sleeve dress. This has the extra bonus of falling cuffs - gorgeous. The cuffs are like from The court of Louis XVI paired with a Buddhist retreat robe. Love the clash.
